St. Jude, know as Thaddeus, was one of the twelve apostles, brother of St. James, the Less, and a relative of Jesus. He preached the faith in Persia where he was martyred. The flame over his head indicated the inspiration and help of the Holy Spirit as he authored an Epistle to the Eastern Churches warning against false teaching
and immorality. St. Jude Thaddeus is known as
advocate of those in desperate need.
